Automic Group expands into ESG market with acquisition of ESG Capital

Automic Group, Australia’s leading technology and professional service provider for companies and funds, has acquired ESG Capital, a professional services company specialising in environmental, social and governance (ESG) advisory and reporting.

Together, Automic Group and ESG Capital will offer clients comprehensive ESG assessment, strategy, risk, reporting, and climate services including greenhouse gas assessments, and emissions reduction planning. These services will enable clients to prepare, track, and disclose key metrics in alignment with evolving stakeholder expectations including regulatory frameworks and standards.

Strategic rationale

With increasing demand from companies and fund managers for ESG services, the acquisition will expand Automic Group’s share registry, board management, governance, and professional service capabilities to include an ESG, sustainability, and climate advisory. In doing so, Automic will assist clients with meeting increasing stakeholder and compliance requirements within an evolving political and regulatory landscape. For ESG Capital, the acquisition enables it to grow its service offering on an industry-leading technology platform, provide enhanced capacity, and accelerate growth through Automic’s 1,200+ clients.

Automic Group CEO, Andrew Wilson, said: “We are thrilled to welcome ESG Capital to Automic Group. Expanding our capability into the ESG space is a logical step for Automic. ESG practices not only present companies with a powerful way to address the challenges of climate change and management of their supply chains, but they also play a pivotal role in the long-term performance and value of a company.

Robust ESG capabilities provides board members and executives with the tools to make a positive impact on their communities and provide shareholders with the information they require to identify and assess future investment opportunities. I look forward to working closely with Steve and his team and progressing our shared vision of sustainability.”

ESG Capital’s founder, Steve Morgan, said: “ESG Capital was founded on the notion that the right approach to ESG creates better companies, and contributes to a better world. Becoming a part of Automic Group allows us to take our mission to the next level. Combining our expertise in ESG, sustainability, and climate with Automic’s outstanding technology and professional services means we can empower more companies to transform their organisations through tangible and impactful solutions.”

Five V Capital representative, Justin England said: “We have had a clear growth strategy from the outset; acquiring ESG Capital with Automic Group brings together two businesses that are naturally aligned to deliver unrivalled client solutions. This is a significant milestone for the registry industry – with our existing technology and experienced team, our services are unparalleled. As a proud B-Corp certified company, we recognise the importance of effective ESG management and its positive impact for both corporates and funds, and we look forward to supporting the ESG Capital team as part of Automic Group.”
