News The Latest from Automic Group Legal The FWO is Cracking Down On Non-Compliance and Underpayments By Automic IT | 7 December 2020 The Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) is cracking down on non-compliance and underpayments. Last financial year the regulator recovered $123 million, which was more than three times the total of underpayment claims for the previous period. In the last twelve months more than 60 businesses have self-reported breaches of workplace laws including underpayments totalling half a billion dollars. Underpayments can result in prosecutions and hefty penalties against the employer and even its directors, as well as, significant reputational damage.
