David Raper

Chief Executive Officer

David has 25 years executive experience operating, developing and building highly regulated financial market infrastructure businesses based on technology and data.

Prior to joining Automic David had executive responsibility for ASX markets, data and technology, where in addition to responsibility for the Australian stock market he led the development of the ASX low latency colocation facility (ALC) and the Australian markets largest dark pool ASX Centre Point.

Beyond traditional securities and derivative markets David also has significant practical experience advising, leading and building initiatives in crypto markets, and the broader use of blockchain for financial services.

Matthew Walton

Chief Financial Officer

Matthew Walton is a performance-focused CFO with a strong operational, commercial, and strategic mindset. With extensive experience in financial leadership, he partners with Boards and C-level executives to drive business transformation, optimise financial processes, and improve profitability through strategic change initiatives.

Marcelo Dantas

Chief Information Officer

Marcelo is a computer scientist with over 18 years of commercial experience in the IT industry, delivering successful projects for a wide range of companies and industries such as financial services, health, telecommunications and airlines, designing solutions from mobile apps to complex high-load mission-critical web applications.

At Automic Group, Marcelo has led the architecture, design, product development, program management and IT operations of Automic Group’s innovative cloud-based platforms, with a strong emphasis on maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Automic Group’s client data and systems.

Sue Julian

Chief Operating Officer – Platform

Sue has over 30 years' experience in Australia’s financial markets, specialising in settlement, post-settlement administration, corporate actions, and Investor Engagement. Sue has worked on some of the most significant and complex transactions in the Australian market for companies including Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, NAB, Telstra, Woolworths, Virgin Australia Holdings, ASX, APA, and IAG.

Prior to joining Automic, Sue worked in Investor Relations with a Top 20 publicly listed company and understands the complexities of servicing a Top 20 ASX company. Sue’s experience includes being Head of Capital Markets, Business Risk Committee, and Director of Shareholder Services. Sue is currently Head of Business Operations with Automic Group and is a member of Automic's Executive Leadership team.

Renee Law

Chief Operating Officer – Professional Services

Renée is highly valued by Boards and executives for her ability to deliver clear, strategic counsel that cuts through complexity and resonates with key financial stakeholder groups. 

Known for her unwavering client focus, Renée brings energy, insight and impact across strategic communications, capital market transactions, investor relations, ESG and issues management. With 25 years' experience in business and financial communications, she consistently helps organisations navigate critical moments with confidence and clarity.
 
Prior to joining Automic, Renée was Senior Managing Director at global management consulting firm, FTI Consulting, advising a broad range of ASX100 and corporate clients. She was previously CEO of WPP's Cannings Strategic Communications, and Group Head of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations for the New York Stock Exchange-listed sunglasses company, Oakley Inc., based in the USA.

Richard Thomas

Chief Commercial Officer

Richard leads Automic’s sales and solutions team, alongside responsibility for M&A and strategy. Prior to joining Automic, Richard worked in multiple private equity portfolio companies where he was responsible for growth and M&A. He was previously a Director with UBS Australia’s investment banking division, and a strategy consultant at Booz & Company, where he collectively spent 10 years advising a broad range of ASX200 and corporate clients in Australia, the US, and Singapore.

Michelle Cross

Head of Fund Registry

Michelle brings over 30 years of operational and project management experience to Automic’s fast-growing Fund Registry team from financial services across Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. Michelle has provided outsourced registry and administration services to many of Australia’s leading fund managers. Michelle was most recently at AMP Capital as Head of Service Provider Relationships and at Link Market Services in various senior management roles, including General Manager-Managed Fund Outsourcing, Head of Operations-Employee Share Plan Services, Corporate Actions General Manager and Program Manager.

Michelle has worked on many of the most significant and complex transactions in Australia and the APAC region while developing and leading highly effective operational and project teams. She brings extensive experience across ASX top 100 companies and is an integral component of the projected growth of Automic’s fund registry business.

Robbie Hulston - BW
Robbie Hulston

Chief Risk Officer

Having joined Automic in 2022, Robbie brings over 20 years of experience in administration, legal, governance, risk and compliance spanning a diverse range of financial services, including administration of pensions, superannuation, wealth management, group life insurance, trustee and custodial services, regulatory licensing, equity capital markets and unit registry, across Australia, Europe and Asia.

Admitted as a Lawyer to the Supreme Court of NSW with current legal practicing certificate, Robbie holds a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney, as well as a Bachelor Laws, Graduate Diploma in Legal practice, Certificate in Governance (risk management), Diploma of Financial Services and an Associate Diploma in Superannuation Management.  His previous leadership roles include National Manager of Compliance, Chief of Staff to the Managing Director of an ASX 100 company, Head of Group Reporting and Head of Strategic Development and Governance, Risk & Compliance.

Paul Williams

Executive Chair

Paul is an accomplished business leader with twenty years’ experience spanning general management, senior leadership and board roles across companies in the registry, pharmaceutical and health sectors. He is experienced in managing teams, driving corporate growth and executing successful sale and exit strategies, as well as overseeing change management and company integrations. He has extensive knowledge of data and technology platforms, and an in depth understanding of commercial value that proprietary software systems hold for businesses. In Paul’s current role as Executive Chair of the Automic Group, he is focussed upon supporting the development of Australia’s first truly technology driven professional services offering.

Adrian MacKenzie

Non-Executive Director

Adrian is the co-founder and a Partner at Five V Capital. Adrian is a highly experienced investor with over 25 years of global investing experience. Adrian is currently a Non-Executive Director of Automic Group, Openway Food Co and Mantel Group. Before founding Five V Capital, Adrian was a Managing Partner at leading global private equity firm CVC Capital Partners where he helped establish CVC Asia Pacific in Hong Kong and led the Australian office. Adrian holds a Bachelor of Technology and Business Studies.

Ainslie van Onselen

Non-Executive Director

Ainslie is Chief Executive Officer of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). For more than 20 years Ainslie enjoyed a parallel career as a law partner and non-executive director, before progressing into senior executive roles at Westpac, including Managing Director of RAMS Home Loans and General Manager of Westpac’s retail deposits and personal finance portfolio. Ainslie also currently serves as a Commissioner of Legal Aid New South Wales, Chair of Kambala Girls School, Chair (elect) of Chartered Accountants Worldwide and Director of Global Accounting Alliance. An Australian Financial Review Women of Influence winner and a former 40 under 40 WA Business News and University of Western Australia Award winner, Ainslie represented CAANZ and the accounting and auditing professions at the Australian Government’s 2022 Jobs and Skills Summit. She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia and a Masters of Applied Finance. She is a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of Chief Executive Women.

James McMurdo

Non-Executive Director

James is a founder and partner of Privatus Capital Partners with over 30 years of experience in the financial markets. James was previously Head of Corporate & Investment Banking Asia Pacific and Global Co-Head of Corporate Finance for Deutsche Bank, based in Hong Kong.
Prior to this, James was a Partner at Goldman Sachs, working in their Sydney and London offices. Roles included Head of Financial Sponsors for EMEA and Co-Head of Investment Banking for ANZ.
James has also been a Board member of Ramsay Healthcare since September 2019.

Karen Bell

Non-Executive Director

Karen is the Chief Operating Officer at Five V Capital with over 30 years of experience in financial services, specialising in leadership, strategy, governance, and change management. Before joining Five V, Karen was a partner at Privatus Capital Partners, where she established and managed the firm's advisory and funds management infrastructure. She also held senior roles at Bell Partners, Deutsche Bank, and KPMG.

Nick Larkin

Non-Executive Director

Nick is an Investment Director in the investment team at Five V Capital. Nick has 8 years of investing experience and has been part of the Five V team since 2018. Alongside Automic, Nick is currently a Non-Executive Director of Openway Food Co and Orikan. Prior to Five V Nick worked within the principal investment team at Macquarie Group, investing across the capital structure (debt and equity) in a variety of industries (education, software, and infrastructure). Nick holds a Bachelor of Applied Finance and Bachelor of Laws.
