How do I change the name on my holding?

HIN (CHESS) holders: 

If you hold your shares through a broker or trading platform such as Commsec and your statements show a holder number beginning with capital X then you are a CHESS holder and will need to update your name and address details directly with your broker or trading platform. 

SRN (Issuer) holders: 

If you are doing a minor name correction, such as a spelling correction, adding or appending a middle name, or adding, deleting, or appending an account designation, then you can change your registered name by completing the Name Correction Request & Indemnity Form which can be downloaded by using the Investor Portal at investor.automic.com.au/#/home.  This is the most efficient method of updating your details.  

  • If you have already registered, enter your username and password and click "log in".   
  • If you have not yet registered, click "register" and follow the prompts.  
  • Once you have logged in, click on "Forms" on the left and then click on "Name Correction Request & Indemnity" to download the form.  

Major name changes: 

If you are making a major name change, we require additional information and supporting documents to affect the change or you may need to complete an off-market transfer. 

Individual and joint holders: 

If you are seeking to update your first name or surname, please provide a certified copy of the official change of name certificates issued by the relevant government entity along with your completed change of name form. 

If you are seeking to add an additional holder to your holding (e.g. change John Smith, 123 sample st to John Smith + Jane Smith, 123 sample st) please complete an Off Market Transfer form by following the instructions here: 

Company holders: 

If you are changing the name of a corporate holding due to the entity having legally changed it’s name, please provide a copy of the confirmation of change of name documents from ASIC in addition to your completed form.
